It is all over the web that Margaret Thatcher has made it abundantly clear that she will not “meet & greet” Sarah Palin on Palin’s swoop through England after visiting Sudan in July. It was reported in The Guardian that the former Reagan era Prime Minister of England had this to say about any proposed photo-ops with Palin,
It appears that the former prime minister has no intention of meeting the darling of the Tea Party movement. Andy McSmith reported in the Independent this morning that Palin is likely to be “thwarted” on the grounds that Thatcher, 86, rarely makes public appearances.
It would appear that the reasons go deeper than Thatcher’s frail health. Her allies believe that Palin is a frivolous figure who is unworthy of an audience with the Iron Lady. This is what one ally tells me:
“Lady Thatcher will not be seeing Sarah Palin. That would be belittling for Margaret. Sarah Palin is nuts.”
Thatcher will show the level she punches at when she attends the unveiling of a statue of Ronald Reagan outside the US embassy in Grosvenor Square on Independence day on 4 July. This is what her ally told me:
Like I said, OUCH! And this after Sarah already made it clear that she was looking forward to meeting Thatcher,
“I am going to Sudan in July and hope to stop in England on the way. I am just hoping Mrs Thatcher is well enough to see me as I so admire her.” - reported to Christina Lamb of the Sunday Times
Well, so much for being the self-proclaimed illegitimate daughter-in-spirit of Ronald Reagan! But I am certain that if Reagan were still alive (age aside) he would be giving her the same warm dis-invite as Margaret Thatcher. Palin and her merry band of minions can try and spin this any ol’ way they want, but the fact remains – fantasy bites when it bumps up against reality!
And now on the home front…more criticism…although this time slightly disguised by a fellow female “woman of faith” who has her eyes set on changing her address to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue after the 2012 election. Michelle Bachmann had this to say to the remnant darling of the Religious Right, Ralph Reed, at a recent gathering of his latest theocratic money machine for Dominionist candidates – Faith & Freedom Coalition:
Remember Ralph? Yeah, he “palled around with” the likes of convicted criminals such as Jack Abrahamoff. And these are the asshats that blame the moral decline of America (of which is a falsehood, by the way) on gays and abortion. Aren’t they a piece of work?
Anyway…back to Bachmann. She certainly sent a dogwhistle message out to other “women of faith” and their families as well that she is uniquely situated in “the right season” of her life to run for president and that others need to “be patient” until their “season” arrives. She stipulates that one of the major indicators of this is being an empty-nester candidate. Subtle? Well, Palin is likely to miss it, but the rest of us got it loud and clear.
Afterall, Bachmann has received the call from God himself, who apparently has influenced every major llife decision this woman has ever made by personally conveying instructions to her directly.
“Every decision that I make, I pray about, as does my husband,” said the Minnesota congresswoman, according to radio broadcaster O. Kay Henderson. “And I can tell, yes, I’ve had that calling and that tugging on my heart that this is the right thing to do.” - AP Report
It is an unmistakable message that until Trigg is entering college as a freshman, Palin should cool her monkey-heels and focus on raising those kids. Ouch, ouch and another ouch!
Of course, the mere fact that this clip was filmed at yet another of Reed’s travelling self-righteous political Dominionist Road Shows is a blatant exhibition of the religious platform that many of us are sounding the alarms about in the Republican Party.
Leah,have you noticed how the fox News people constantly are now referring to President Obama as Mr.Obama ? Blatantly disrespecting the office . Fox News ,as I use the term loosely, is now becoming even more Nazi right wing Republican then it ever ,even now that they're rating are dropping like a rock . I think people may just have wised up to the fact that they have been being manipulated by the GOP media machine of Rupert Murdoc.
I hear you…the level of disrespect is unbelievable, and look at what they are teaching their children. It's embarrassing for me within our own country let alone our national image being drug through their mud. And the dare talk about "patriotism", "tyranny" and American : exceptionalism". It really makes my stomach turn.
Apathy is the disease,people in general don't like confrontation so they ignore the political white noise only to find out to late the dangers of apathy once led to the rise of the NAZI party. I assure you, that the power that keeps them alive is that no one takes them seriously and the evidence is in watching them become more and more emboldened and brazen in their efforts. We absolutely CAN stop this…I know we can. Too many people just really don't know that this is going on around us and I trust that the more everyone realizes how serious this dangerous MINORITY is – there will be a conscious uprising against them.
One thing the Dominionists hate is exposure. It is time to out these frauds.
I can't even begin to handle this. The only thing I can think to do is pour another glass of wine. These people are so completely insane it's laughable.
They are also desperate and desperation makes people dangerous. But they are playing their aces now, and the game is long. They will fail as the so-called Christian or Judeo-Christian paradigm slides into the past, as it is inexorably doing, and they will be as dumb as hungry lambs standing in a field of clover focused only on the matted tail of the little lamb in front of it following after what they do not know.
