Dominionism in American Politics – "Expanding the discussion behind the Headlines"
What IS Dominionism?
In a word - theocracy.
Think of this word as a big umbrella. Under the umbrella of Political Dominionism are numerous "franchises" or sects of radical Christian belief whose goal it is to take "dominion" over all things secular.
The lesson they seemed to have gleaned from the Bible, is that no matter WHAT you do (or who you do), if you just twist it around like a giant pretzel…incorporate Jesus into your explanation…then you can pretty much be absolved from ANY and ALL actions, wrongdoings and sins. Clearly George Rekers simply stumbled upon www.rentboy.com” when he invited a total stranger (paid escort/gay hooker) “Lucien” to innocently travel abroad to Europe for a 10 day “vakay”.
Yeah, right! These holier-than-thou hypocrites are un-be-lievable!!!

I have been thinking to myself recently that I must ha am ready for that, have all my ducks in a row…no my facts…articulate them…and be poised for opposition. Well, I really am ready for all of the above. And when I see these lunatics I realize…why in the hell am I in the least bit concerned about push-back?? They will oppose what ever I bring to the table, and I am not going to change their agenda.
I AM reminded that it is the 70% of the rest of America that truly concerns me. Think about all the people you know…no matter the political persuasion. No matter their denial of political interest or affiliation at all. No matter whether they are religious, non-religious or somewhere in between, This is about all the rest of us in America who have not drunk the Kool Aid! Republicans (secular), Dems, non-partisan, a-political, etc…I can’t say it enough! Start talking to those around you. Even if seems inconsequential.

We ARE making a difference…we WILL win…and a sign of that is to watch tomorrow as poor lil’ Franklin Graham is relegated to public grounds outside the Pentagon (where he should have been all along) as he does his prayer as though in some sort of defiance of our President and government.
He will be having a virtual tantrum for all the world to see because even after going to his “daddy”, Obama would not cow-tow to his foot-stomping, “but I wanna!”
It is the smug self righteous manner in which these people deliver their hypocritical nonsense that makes you wish you had a quiver of lightening bolts. I guess he introduced "Lucien" to Jesus Christ and now "Lucien" has been "healed.'" After all… his entire intent was to continue doing "Gods" work. What a crock of you know what.
That is why prohibition failed. That is why the drug war is such a failure.
That is why separation of church and state is essential to democracy.
An authoritarian mind-set is the problem, and education is the only antidote.

Where does a (semi-) sane society go from here?

Shucks – this one is just too easy. Is there anyone who has traveled, say…. three times, that doesn't know that the taxi/limo driver will 'handle' your luggage? And there are people at the airport and hotels who 'handle' luggage. That you can travel all over the world – by train, plane, or cruise ship, and there are always people around who 'handle' luggage. Heck – at nice hotels, they will even unpack your luggage. Tipping a few limo/airport/hotel personnel along the way would have been so much cheaper than taking a 'luggage handler' on a ten day European trip.

I think some Christians/Christian organizations are beginning to look more closely at the dominionists. According to Right Wing Watch, VCY America has dropped Janet Porter's program. VCY says that the 7 Mountains theology is not in line with Scripture, and that the dominionists are not pursuing God's agenda but their own. Porter had a very small turnout for her D. C. Prayer Day event. Reker got exactly what he deserved. I was reading on the Miami Times blog that Lucien has started talking, and he says that he was not just a bag carrier for Reker. He was much more. I won't go into all of the sordid details here, but I will say that Lucien claims that Reker likes the long stroke. I stumbled upon the Miami Times link via a diary posted on Daily Kos. As for Franklin Graham, he also got what he deserves. Any one calling himself a man of God who lies, smears others, and pushes hate deserves to be disinvited from ever participating in any event at any place. Someone should tell him that the hubris he demonstrates because of his father's prominence is not a characteristic of a true follower of Christ.
A man who is dishonest about who he really is is counseling others to deny who they really are. It really makes me sick that he calls himself a mental health professional. How many young men has he screwed up? What must go through the heads of these guys who preach to everyone else that being gay is a sin while they are practicing gay sex. It is totally mindboggling to me. But, then I have been reading about the history of the Bush Family, so I realize there are a lot of people in the world who deny who they really are, they must be very unhappy people. Thanks Leah.
