There are days when one is challenged to hold one’s head high regarding national pride. And last night’s goat show was the cherry on the top of last week’s juvenile and globally embarrassing behavior by the neo-conservatives, teabaggers and republicans who fuel their outrageous antics in the name of patriotism.

By now we have all heard about the despicable acts of spitting, shouting racial slurs, homophobic slang and brick throwing outside of the capitol during the health care debate. Then there was the cocky self-aggrandizing good ol’ boy club inside including Boehener leaning as though he were sidled up to a bar (a position I am certain he has been in before) and arrogantly proposing opposition measures and rules in a desperate attempt to stop the vote on this historic legislation.

Not to be out done, a classless blowhard and very sore looser from Texas screamed out “baby killer” as the republicans watched their months of efforts to defend the profits of the insurance companies over the health of Americans dissipate in a puff of smoke.
So why am I recapping what most of us have already read and heard about this childishness? Because I ran across this email by a University of Ottawa official sent to Ann Coulter and warning her to tone down her hate rhetoric and anti-Semitic vitriol because in Canada…they actually believe that polite, respectful discourse leads to more productive and informed conversation – even during debates.
“Dear Ms. Coulter,
I understand that you have been invited by University of Ottawa Campus Conservatives to speak at the University of Ottawa this coming Tuesday. We are, of course, always delighted to welcome speakers on our campus and hope that they will contribute positively to the meaningful exchange of ideas that is the hallmark of a great university campus. We have a great respect for freedom of expression in Canada, as well as on our campus, and view it as a fundamental freedom, as recognized by our Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
I would, however, like to inform you, or perhaps remind you, that our domestic laws, both provincial and federal, delineate freedom of expression (or “free speech”) in a manner that is somewhat different than the approach taken in the United States. I therefore encourage you to educate yourself, if need be, as to what is acceptable in Canada and to do so before your planned visit here.
You will realize that Canadian law puts reasonable limits on the freedom of expression. For example, promoting hatred against any identifiable group would not only be considered inappropriate, but could in fact lead to criminal charges. Outside of the criminal realm, Canadian defamation laws also limit freedom of expression and may differ somewhat from those to which you are accustomed. I therefore ask you, while you are a guest on our campus, to weigh your words with respect and civility in mind.
There is a strong tradition in Canada, including at this University, of restraint, respect and consideration in expressing even provocative and controversial opinions and urge you to respect that Canadian tradition while on our campus. Hopefully, you will understand and agree that what may, at first glance, seem like unnecessary restrictions to freedom of expression do, in fact, lead not only to a more civilized discussion, but to a more meaningful, reasoned and intelligent one as well.
I hope you will enjoy your stay in our beautiful country, city and campus.
Sincerely,
François Houle Vice-recteur aux études / Vice-President Academic and Provost Université d’Ottawa / University of Ottawa 550″
Wow! Civility! What a lost concept. Of course Coulter is eating this up. She is source for some of the most vial hate speech and frankly I don’t blame Vice President Houle for giving her a word of caution. Where does it advance a discussion to hatefully make comments like Coulter’s following? (Pay particular attention to her remark on Freedom of Speech!)
On Canada
[Canadians] better hope the United States does not roll over one night and crush them. They are lucky we allow them to exist on the same continent.Fox News; Hannity & Colmes, November 30, 2004
We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren’t punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That’s war. And this is war.On Her Faith
I’m a Christian first, and a mean-spirited, bigoted conservative second, and don’t you ever forget it.If Democrats had Any Brains, They’d be Republicans, ISBN 0307408957, p. 77
On Darfur
These people can’t even wrap up genocide. We’ve been hearing about this slaughter in Darfur forever — and they still haven’t finished. The aggressors are moving like termites across that country. It’s like genocide by committee. Who’s running this holocaust in Darfur, FEMA? This is truly a war in which we have absolutely no interest.[1]; April 4, 2007
God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, ‘Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It’s yours. ‘Fox News; Hannity & Colmes; June 20, 2001
On Free Speech
They’re [Democrats] always accusing us of repressing their speech. I say let’s do it. Let’s repress them. Frankly, I’m not a big fan of the First Amendment. University of Florida speech; October 20, 2005
On Gays
And why is it “homophobic” for Senate Republicans to look askance at sex in public bathrooms? Is the Times claiming that sodomy in public bathrooms is the essence of being gay? I thought gays just wanted to get married to one another and settle down in the suburbs so they could visit each other in the hospital.[4]; September 5, 2007
On Women
I think [women] should be armed but should not vote…women have no capacity to understand how money is earned. They have a lot of ideas on how to spend it…it’s always more money on education, more money on child care, more money on day care. Comedy Central; Politically Incorrect; February 26, 2001
On Teachers
We are simultaneously supposed to gasp in awe at teachers’ raw dedication and be forced to listen to their incessant caterwauling about how they don’t make enough money. Well, which is it? Are they dedicated to teaching tomorrow’s future or are they in it for the money? After all the carping about how little teachers are paid, if someone enters the teaching procession for the big bucks, aren’t they too stupid to be teaching our kids? Godless: The Church of Liberalism (2006); ISBN 0978602412
excerpted from Wikiquote…there is no lack of garbage whose source was Coulter’s mouth
America…this is your conservative celebrity. The Coulters, Limbaughs, Levins…representing a very disturbing and dangerous population that is growing verbose and brazen. After the vote churches…churches…were calling for their sheeples to rise up and protest against this “pro-abortion bill. And last night there were several reports of windows across the country shattered by objects thrown by violent mob-mentality conservatives who targeted offices of congress members who voted to pass health care.
I remember clearly having impassioned disagreements with individuals as a lobbyist in the halls of Alaska’s capitol…but I can honestly tell you that it never digressed into the sewer the way neo-conservatives have chosen to attack with venom and hate today. Never. What is wrong with these people? Honestly…

SHE IS INSANE.
i would looooooooooooooooove to see her back any of what she spouts with fact. she' s a Christian just as much as Hitler. she disgusts me almost as much as palin. in fact, they might be tied. she's just an angry, angry woman who probably has a lot of self-hatred that she spews into other forums.
i hope that she eventually opens her eyes. she couldn't say half of what she says without the first amendment. talk about looking a gift-horse in the mouth… she'd probably take said horse, kill it, then turn it into glue so she could hang signs. really.
I hear you…abominable! And she is part of the crowd that incites violence…
And I was just thinking the other day that we hadn't heard from our charming Ms Coulter in a while. Thanks for spoiling THAT dream.
ding-dong, the w(b)itch is back… let's not give witches a bad name, shall we?
They were the Healers, the Wise Women of their time, before the Inquisition, the "Witches Hammer", which was the codification of torture, the Salem Trials etc. demonised them for their knowledge of ancient herbal lore.
Coulter is one messed-up person. It really does not matter whether heshe is agitating for the fun of it, for the glory of it, or merely because it is possible and profitable to do so… the ravings are either those of a lunatic or of a crass opportunist. Take you pick!
It is deporable that people fall for it. But then again… logic is always the first to fall to dogma!
You're welcome….:)
DO you realize that anne coulter can destroy all the hard work POTUS Obama has done to restore dignity to our country after bush?
Do people even realize haw much we were/are hated around the world for the same reasons that coulter will spew at the university?
She is an evil person. I don't say that about many people, but she is evil.
Opportunist!
"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren’t punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That’s war. And this is war." When Ann Coulter said this, she was referring to the mid-east, not Canadians.
Yes, she was. I do not think anyone would argue your point… which seems besides the point.
Here is my take on Coulter's speeches, any and all of them:
Hatred is corrosive… ergo, Coulter is corrosive.
War is horrendous for both sides of the conflict, let there be no doubt.
There always are innumerable casualties, both on the civilian and military sides in any conflict.
There always are moments where the injured envy the dead.
There always are physical injuries, as are those afflicting the psyche of victors as well as those conquered, for the remainder of their lives.
Just ask those who have served in conflict and carry PTSD, as well as those who lived through carpet-bombings, be it in England or Germany or any other nation since then.
I am not even citing the more advanced methods of warfare, such as cluster bombs, "depleted uranium" ordinance, drones etc.
If yo have experience of either, you will know whereof I speak.
If you do not, be grateful.
It is beside the main point of Coulter's frequent hate speech; however, it is important to put her hate quotes in the correct context, don't you think?
You are right, it is important.
Not one of the alleged 'despicable acts of spitting, shouting racial slurs, homophobic slang and brick throwing outside of the capitol' was caught on video. Pretty amazing in this day and age. The brick-throwing incident actually occured in New York City and the Democrat Pary Offices. I find it a bit ironic that folks don't like Coulter because she is hateful and abusive, seem to use very similar or worse language is discussing the views of people with whom they disagree.
If a tree fell in the woods and Youtube didn’t catch it teabaggers would still question Obama’s citizenship
cosmosis… i thank you… you give me… in this instant… my moment of Zen!
The quotes of Coulter leave me stunned. This is the type of stuff she is spewing out? Is she serious? I have not been paying attention. These are rants from a seriously disturbed personality.
Am I starting to see the rumblings of civil war here from the theocrats? It sounds like they're starting to get *particularly* militant.
Steve, the first sentence has it in a nutshell! The nuts have left the shells containing them, and a bi-racial President (what, the son of Cain???) has given them the final push… it is enough to make one despair!
Is it the reaction of animals cornered, or are they following the smell of blood left by the Hounds of War? Personally, I think these Theocrats are the Hounds of Hell. They are the "We Are Number One" warmongers in this country bent upon domination. Correct me if I am wrong.
Yeesh. The racist version of Serpent Seed Doctrine. Ugh.
Explain… Please… Serpent Seed Doctrine.
As I told you before, I am not particularly bible-literate…
Does it mean "devil's seed"?
Steve I would not worry. They would be punching in the dark. One cannot fight intelligence,it holds no flag. Just as terror holds no flag.
Funny how that is ehh!
When push comes to shove they are afraid of love.
People are tired of divisive politics, I hope passing HCR , no matter how flawed, demonstrates that large issues can be addressed maturely and marginalizes some of these fringe groups. I sure like your web site Ms Burton, revisionist theo-crats have done more damage to this country than most people realize.
Agreed, and Welcome to the group!
cosmosis… as soon as I posted this comment, Guess What? The program locked up!
Thought I would have to retype my comment, but here it is.. hmmm…
Guess I was supposed to meditate on this? I did…:-)
Does indeed. In some circles (mainly Branhamism) it is said that Cain was conceived by illicit intercourse between Eve and "the serpent" of Genesis 3. This results from an *intentional* misinterpretation.
Why does that not surprise me?
Prolly because EVERYTHING winds up turning into either "women are evil" or "sex is evil" >_>
A human being is a human being, not? And what's so wrong with the means by which most of us came into this world?
A being is a being… whether human or not, it is controlled by the urge to procreate, to add another generation.
… and if I remember correctly, once again, there was nothing wrong with it…
It is elemental… and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Without it, this planet would be unpopulated.
As a mother of four (in three "tries", for I birthed identical twins) I do know that the way we sire and conceive varies little from other mammals.
Unless my "elephant memory" deceives me…
But we digress from the subject at hand!
Well, well, well! Looks like the speech has been cancelled.

YEAH!!! Can you imagine the invective brewing in her next utterances?
Oh trust me – I can imagine!!
