TEA-Drenched Political Dominionism ~ Will the GOP Drink It?

ALL the big names are lining up. It is looking like a resurgence of Republican Party stranglehold once again by the Christian Dominionists. This IS the Religious Right, practicing what is commonly done in Dominionist circles called, “condemnation and re-branding”. It’s supposed to throw us off their trail leaving us to believe that they have somehow disbanded and are in no way associated with the former. Nuh-uh! Not them. But…gosh darn it! The names sure seem familiar…

Who are they? Mandate to Save America They are self-identified god-fearing, America lovin’, patriotic people that care about YOU! That is if that “you” represents precisely the type of person that is as special as they are bing chosen and all that – and you currently hold a first class ticket in the Rapture Transport Tube. Otherwise? Ummm…Not so much!

Political Dominionists, the new Religious Right! They are boldly and openly ramping up their “7 Mountains Mandate” to “reclaim America for Christ”. Let’s take a look at the advertising that former Baptist preacher, Dr. (of course he is) Rick Scarborough did at the Nashville Tea Nation Convention.

What separation of church & state?

‘At a workshop at the National Tea Party Convention given by Scarborough, the senior pastor of Harvest Point Church in Nacogdoches, Texas,  unveiled what he’s calling the “Mandate to Save America,” a plan that might, as Devin Burghart of the Institute for Research & Education on Human Rights who attended the convention recently reported, signal “a shift taking place … transforming the focus from bailouts and deficits to the culture war.” ~ Buzzflash Bill Berkowitz

And then from one of America’s highest paid lobbyist (calling for less lobbyists in D.C.), former U.S. Congressman from Texas, co-creator of Freedomworks and ongoing puppetmaster of the TEA Party Movement, now has yet another blossoming Movement. Contract from America blending Political Dominionists (cuz they need ‘em) and angry neocon teabaggers. Even though Dick Armey had this to say about Christian extremists only a few years ago when we were still calling them the “Relgious Right”, he stated…

Laughing all the way to the BANK!

“I pray devoutly every day, but being a Christian is no excuse for being stupid. There’s a high demagoguery coefficient to issues like prayer in schools. Demagoguery doesn’t work unless it’s dumb, shallow as water on a plate. These issues are easy for the intellectually lazy and can appeal to a large demographic. These issues become bigger than life, largely because they’re easy. There ain’t no thinking.”

Okay…one more time just for my own entertainment? Sure…what the heck!

“There ain’t no thinking.”

Well, hey! At least he put a ‘g’ on the end of that ‘ing’ word! That truly sets Armey apart from Palin and her ilk.

And who are the groups hovering under the umbrella of Armey & Corporate America Freedomworks/Contract blah, blah?

Contract from America

Freedomworks (freedom to scalp & prey is workin’ for Dick!)

Liberty Central

National Taxpayers Union (sure…NOW they support a Union!)

The Liberty Lab (the lab experiments there must be somethin’)

Americans Tax Reform

Americans Solutions (expel everyone but those JUST like us)

Let Freedom Ring

New Patriot Journal

Regular Folks United (not kidding)

The Heartland Institute (Institution?)

The Next Right

What does this remind me of? Hmmm…lemme think. Ah! Yes…it is akin to the Political Dominionists turning their backs on McCain after he shot off his mouth in premature electionation rhetoric and called the Religious Right (and I quote)…

“Agents of intolerance!”

And then along came 2008, McCain was having a political meltdown like a snowball at the Vancouver Olympics…until…the Political Dominionist machine moved in, threw a consummate wingnut into the mix, convinced the campaign staff that though she may be ignorant, she is viewed as a conservative and good lookin’…by god! And voila! McCain grabs the Christocrat vote!

What’s a Christocrat? This is their term…you know me, I refer to them as ReBiblicans because try though they may…they control and vote republican.

Let’s listen to one of the movers and shakers in the conservative/Christian/Political Dominionist/teabagging former Baptist Preacher gone wild…Mr….I mean DR. (they are ALL doctors aren’t they?) Rick Scarborough! He likes calling himself a Christocrat. That darn GOP is just too liberal!

Contract from AmericaThe Mount Vernon StatementMandate to Save America

And people still try to convince me that this isn’t happening. That teabaggers are just well-meaning simple folk who are indenpendant from the lunatic loudmouths. That the religious extremists aren’t that powerful…and, well, “there just aren’t that many of them” they tell me.

I don’t know about you guys, but I am pushing back. All the comforting statements of denial will only increase their influence and erode our freedoms. Take them seriously. This is not a joke.

  1. I would never drop my eye. Our local highschool is working out a deal to let the children have a running forum in the paper! And the paper is all for it. Now if we can get them to voice what reading material they favor…. without parent supervision, This could be great. We will see.
Seems to me the extremist groups are going to have to compromise. That is not what they are about so this to will play out.
So many issues right now and so little time. Thank god for you Leah+ Alex.

  2. When there wasn't any push-back to Sarah's comments I knew something was up. Not a viable party, join the Repubs, give me a break.

  3. O/T, but I just read that Benny Hinn's wife has filed for divorce. Wonder how THAT'S going to go over with the Teabaggers.

  4. Based on what I've been reading about CPAC, what these so-called Christians say they represent is totally different than what they actually do and say. I've never seen so much hate emanating from a group of "Christians in my 50+ years on earth. This is what turns sane people off to organized religion.

  5. Why are the liberals so angry and afraid. They have their people leading the country. Where is all this wonderful positive change we were promised? Unemployment hovers at near Great Depression levels if you factor in those that have stopped looking for a job. The Socialist agenda is being implemented with break neck speed, even though most Americans oppose it. I would think the liberals would be dancing in the streets. Instead they are hostel, trying to discredit all conservative voices. They know that in the arena of ideas solid conservative ideas will always win out in America. Therefore we must exaggerate or out and out lie about people with legitimate concerns. The conservatives must be hate mongers, or they really are so few they must be marginalized, or they are wacko kooks. Rest assured we will not shut up.
