Sarah Palin Walkin’ the Thin Line With SarahPAC

by Sarah Jones at PoliticusUSA

Sarah Palin raked in around 2 million dollars as the of the end of the fiscal year reporting for SarahPAC shows, but instead of helping the cause, Palin is helping herself to the tune of one million dollars for paying for her private jet charter, billboard faux bus tour, expensive suites, while donating only $65,000 to candidates.

Raking in around 2 million as of the end of the fiscal reporting year for PACs (12/31/2009) — 400,000 or so of which came from her own book sales to her followers (oh, how I love thee…let me count the money), Palin’s SarahPAC is not the front-running GOP PAC, but she is definitely a player. And it’s all for the “cause” ya’ know? “Those common sense causes”.

Yes.

Like over a million spent on promoting Sarah, paying for her private jet charter, billboard faux bus tour, expensive suites, entourage expenses, various “media consulting” fees paid to long time friends (some of whom were on her gov payroll simulateanously?), and 50k to a web developer last fall who hasn’t done a thing for SarahPAC’s website, at least not visibly. Jones has done a great job of itemizing the real actions of the Palin’s PAC. Yeah, Palin…the “commoner”. The one who resonates with “common-folk” across “rell Amurika”.

  1. Hey Leah!

Yes, this is a perfect example of what they mean by "common sense conservative values". Grifting off of the hard working American people who are consistently taken in by these shysters.

    It's so sad….

Sounds a lot like the "Christian Right", no? Exploitation of the masses, fudging numbers, hiding true intent….

  2. $2 million paid in, with only $60k actually going to support other republican candidates? Am I the only one who thinks this is a good thing? After all, the republican supporters do not have unlimited cash reserves. If they can be duped this easily into supporting Sarah, that means less total money available for other candidates, some of whom may actually USE the money for effective campaigning. I, for one would rather see this money 'wasted' on Sarah, who most people readily accept is an idiot (my sister-in-law notwithstanding – she feels that as long as Sarah is Christian, and evangical about it she's A-OK (Jimmy Carter's Christianity is glossed over, since he was, after all, a Dem)).

    • Oh, very good point. She is, in fact, sucking the lift out of the Republican party with her tea bagging fraction, as we saw in NY 23. But someone on high has whispered dollar bills into Sarah's ears, and she's now trying to be the Reagan of 2012…So expect to see her support all kinds of Republicans- whoever will have her, I'd wager.

I love people like your sister in law, who discount the spirituality of anyone who is a Democrat and yet think they're on God's side:-(

  3. I wonder how much they spent to get Diana a light sentence for her crimes? The sentence for burgularizing homes and endangering her child by using her to get into people's homes to rob them was just a slap on the wrist. If anyone else had been in that courtroom they would have gone to jail for years. The MSM after smearing Sherry Johnston are being very silent about it so far. Sarah couldn't have her in sitting in jail with all Diana knows about her and her kids. The courts in Alaska are corrupt and this case makes it glaringly obvious, yet MSM is mute. Sarah Palin is so transparent with her unethical and illegal actions that it is clear she knows she will never have any real consequences for any of it. Her plan for Sarah Pac was to take the money for herself all along and it should be clear to those who support her, yet many will keep donating.

  4. Sarah Jones:
The article was great. I believe that it should receive wider exposure. Sarah Palin is a woman who is earning a big salary from FOX as a "political analyst". She doesn't speak to an audience without a fee and is probably earning royalties from her "ghost written" book. Yet, she is using the PAC to buy copies of her book, pay the salaries of staff, etc. Is this really a legal use of a PAC? Could you clarify, please? If it is legal, it borders on amoral. Taking money, that her supporters can ill afford to send to her, is depraved.

    • It smacks of money laundering, actually…but she's taking advantage of the under-staffed FEC (thank you, W and obstructionists). I'm sure she knows they are vulnerable right now.

Glad you liked it:-) We've got to keep our eye on the money. Money trails don't lie.

      • "Follow the money " to quote Deep Throat to Bob Woodward. Grifter Granny's greed will finally bring her down. Wonder if she ever paid the hair dresser in Salt Lake?

  5. So typical.
Free hypocritical xian pass. Believe in GOD and you are saved. Always. No matter at who's expense. ::eye roll::

2000 years and counting … and they STILL can't get it right, can they.

Read the latest about palin's house(s) and howmuch taxes she does and does not pay?
I'm sure her followers will see that as a good thing.
Palin's followers are being duped by this women. She cried poverty because of lawyer fees, quit the governorship, yet stated she was doing so for Alaskan's yet how much of her new found wealth was spent in Alaska? Howmusch was spent on lawyer fees? How much on special needs cause? A big whopping $2,000.00.
    How much on Sarah?
I'd be calling myself an idiot and swindled if I had sent her 1 cent!
