Palin’s “Going Rogue” “Bus Tour” Finally Jumps the Shark | Politicususa.com
December 3, 2009
“And just yesterday, Palin announced she would now be charging for photos. Those poor suckers who camp outside of Costco for the chance to get their books signed by the Their Most Holy of Mothers and Second Coming End Times Dinosaur Rider must now fork over 15.99 for a 5×7 of Sarah signing their book. The cost to print a 5×7 is 1.59. Somebody found a new way to grift. And, also, too, a nice way to collect addresses for SarahPAC. Wait, this isn’t a campaign, right?
Previously, the rules were slightly diva-ish: “You may NOT take photos of Gov Palin at the signing table. You may take your photos from a distance, but you will be asked to put away your camera and cell phone as you approach the table.”
But now, they can no longer take photos with their own cameras, but must pay for prints. “This photo opportunity is provided by SarahPAC”. Yes, the opportunities for Sarah to make money off of her followers never end! They can donate to the Alaska Trust Fund (a trust set up for Sarah for any purpose she chooses), SarahPAC, or one of her many other “endeavors”. Go build another house for free, Sarah,! Oops, she’s already doing that. A real down-to-earth workin’ class gal, that Sarah.
Sigh.
But the Palinapooloza Book Tour jumped the shark today, when an internal memo of her demands for her book-signing appearance at the Mall of America was been released to the AP by accident.
We are told we must address her by “Governor”, in English only, and that no foreign press will be allowed to question the Queen. Is this a good time to mention her “I’m focused on 2012” slip on Fox?
“She’s no longer the chief executive of Alaska, but Sarah Palin should still be called “governor.”
That was the message sent out by officials at the Mall of America this week, who told reporters planning to cover the Minneapolis-area stop on Palin’s “Going Rogue” book tour they must address the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate by her former title. The guidelines also banned foreign reporters, allowing “only English speaking press.”
Mall officials said the guidelines were a mistake, and apologized Wednesday to Palin for the mix up, which they called “an internal miscommunication” that was “inadvertently distributed.”
This is the same Sarah Palin who announced in her Quitting Speech that she “didn’t need a title” to progress Alaska and that she wasn’t in it for the title. Hey, Sarah, for the sake of the troops, why don’t ya’ quit makin’ things up?
MSNBC’s coverage of the press release fiasco indicates that now “all press is welcome”. Yes, I’m sure they are, NOW that this has been publicized and Palin’s thin skin has yet again been revealed to the world. But they can’t ask any questions, now can they?
Palin’s blackout of the press is nothing new. In the last few weeks, she has blacklisted CBS and has refused to answer questions by all reporters, saving herself for friendlier interviews with Fox news and Rush Limbaugh. Even in these interviews, she struggles to sound vaguely coherent, and it’s clear she’s been given the questions in advance.
Scared of the brown people and the socialists, Sarah?
Going Rogue’s faux bus tour will be over in one more cringe-inducing week, sure to be packed with gaffes, more revelations of dishonesty and lies, and more bashing of the President.
Always a good time with the Queen of Teabaggers. Go, democracy!
She really does appear to have more rules and restrictions than the real living Queen Elizabeth! And this is who her followers tout as, “one of us”. Without being able to articulate specifics, they constantly refer to Palin as just a simple homespun gal who resonates with them. How?…(I ask constantly)…to which I receive no response.
It is the same old story…power and money! …and vanity…”Pride Goes Before the FALL!

“You may NOT take photos of Gov Palin at the signing table. You may take your photos from a distance, but you will be asked to put away your camera and cell phone as you approach the table.”
Uh, what am I missing? Didn't she QUIT being governor? I think her correct title are Mrs. or Ms. Palin or perhaps, Sarah. No other moniker really comes to mind.
Leah, my sister just became a born-again fundie. Nothing could have shocked me more. She trots out the same robotic lines about "freedom". Obedience to the Bible = "total freedom". I don't get it at all. It has shades of sado-masochism, in my opinion.
I am sorry…it is no less seductive to certain people than the cults that these dominionists condemn. They use much the same tactics and as you say 'robotic lines' to achieve their indoctrination. It is sad to lose a loved one to this hypocrisy, and you will find that there are many who are part of this community on God's Own Party? who grieve the loss you have just experienced.
This cult preys on those who desperately need answers and comfort of false promises such as eternal salvation from people who benefit mightily off that weakness. One of the most troublesome aspects of this period of 'doom and gloom' economic time in our country is that the 'c'hristian see this as a perfect time to go forth and "harvest souls".
But take heart…we are relentlessly working on this!
We need to focus on her religious beliefs that are not mainstream and to me, very very scary.
She appears to be another bush, scandals roll off her and her idiocy is available for all to see,but many appear blind.
She cannot be allowed to run this country. She is a danger to others!
I couldn't agree more, Diane. A lot of the problem is that all these people put up a very traditional Christian front when they are speaking publicly. A whitewashed version, if you will, for the cameras. Anyone listening to Sarah for the first time would think she is a nice Christian lady with old fashioned family values, trying to live by the Bible's teachings. It isn't until you dig deeper that we learn some of the more extreme beliefs of their leaders. It isn't just that they want to take over running the world's governments and economies. That's scary enough. But they believe in demons and witches, and exile/execution for a long list of biblical sins. I would bet that there are a lot of people involved in their churches and organizations that do not know the full extent of the belief system.
She will not run this country…she will NOT run this country! We are working toward that goal with every fiber of our beings…but it will take all of us. A new poll just came out today and it is worthy of a post. It reveals how many Republicans versus Democrats are planning to vote in 2010…and I am not happy!
Well…I am glad we have benefit of your knowledge.
I'm afraid I must disagree with the German aphorism about "lies have short legs". Winston Churchill had a much more accurate saying, "A lie can make its way halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its pants." Sadly this appears to be the case where SP and the other reichwingnuts are concerned. Their lies, distortions, and inaccuracies seem to get (rough estimate) 10X the airplay than the rebuttals using facts – and not just in Faux news, but in the MSM as well.
Faux News – where if it's news, it's news to us!
Right now it's cold, gloomy, and snowing. This post really brightened my day. Love the Churchill quote – putting it my Words of Wisdom file. Really love the Faux News remark. Sooo Bad Wolf, can we 'borrow' it? It is worthy of going viral.
That would be a great tag line for Fox wouldn't it? LOL
"Faux News – where if it's news, it's news to us!"
Love it…
You are absolutely right, of course, a lie can make its way… and when the lying liar has powerful allies, it can have gone all the way around before the truth catches up. And SP and too many of the reich wingnuts have those allies, which cause us such dIstress.
PS. Thanks for the reminder of Churchill's words.
One acutely irritating response I heard from a Sarah fan (in one of the book-tour clips) is that Sarah Palin "stands for freedom." This is particularly ludicrous in light of the fact that she and her evangelical leaders would, when they attain political power, strip many of the freedoms that Americans have fought for throughout the life of this nation.
If America ever becomes a theoracy, we will be no better than the Middle East countries we are at war against. But those who believe that this country should be run by biblical rule simply do not understand that concept. Or, more likely, they have no idea what a theoracy is.
They have to redefine freedom. "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." 2 Corinthians 3.17b KJV – Freedom to them and freedom to us are two totally different concepts.
Steve…I want to tell you that I truly appreciate your comments and giving us the biblical perspective for these remarks and references. Very helpful…thank you!
I used to be able to justify anything by twisting scripture one way or another… I don't bother anymore but I still know how to do it… I could have become one of Them if I cared to but it went against my preference for REAL liberty.
You would be surprised to know how many people do NOT know what theocracy means! When I slapped together my rant about Palin in 3 weeks in October 2008 I thought I came up with the clever title of "TheoPalinism", but I out-clevered myself! LOL Very few people caught the reference, and when I explained that theo meant theocracy, I was left defining that as well.
And you are correct, Palin's "freedom" applies to the "chosen" like herself. The rest of us are a nuisance…these people do not know how to think, reason or educate themselves.
The word I believe used formally for it is "Total Depravity". Another special term in Calvinism.
Hi Leah and all,
I was honored to have Leah post some of my article here, at one of my favorite places on the web. Leah's doing such important work, and Palin is a great tool to expose the radical religious fundamentalists infiltrating our government on every level.
Have a great weekend, all~~
Sarah J
Leah, this is OT, but is "Americans United for Separation of Church and State" a good organization to support? I was impressed that they successfully won a lawsuit here in WI against a sheriff who was forcing his officers to attend meetings with religious presentations by an evangelical group; but I had never heard of the organization before. I think this is the same group listed in your sidebar as "Americans United Against Church and State", but I dion't know if listing contitutes an endorsement. If you do endorse them, I'm ready to give them a donation.
Back on topic, Sarah J's summary is excellent.
AU is an excellent group to support! They have done considerable work toward stopping theocracy, your support will be appreciated.
And yes, I love Sarah Jone's take on all this. I am thankful to her for letting me re-post.
They have a very informative and useful web site. I recently bookmarked their site as one of my favorites.
I think her 'power' is waning and I'm glad of it. Her only influence will be with Focus on the family crowd and the conspiracy theorists. But I do enjoy me some rubber-necking on this accident!
I always love your zingers at the end, but the unabridged version from KJV is even more fitting.
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18
Yes Ma'm! Hope your (and the bible) will prove correct!
Oh, I have a feeling that Leah's new book is going to help it along.
And this is the same woman who refuses to use the word "President" when referring to President Obama. And he actually still HOLDS that title.
Look at GenieO's quote on pride before destruction…
Respect given usually results in respect returned… at least among those of us who have evolved into thinking, reasoning entities. The problem with fanatics is that they do not think rationally about causes and effects, rights and responsibilities, nor personal liability for their actions. Thus they will never own up to flaws and forever place blame upn others.
Think about it….
Blinders I tell ya! Blinders. It is a scary segment of our country…
… and unfortunately, a growing one! Ignorance is not bliss… Ignorance Just Is!
Germans have a very old saying: "Lies have short legs"… before too long this woman may not "have a leg to stand on"… (to mix metaphors of different languages???), as she seems to follow into the other generalization of "revisiting the scene of the crime" with her comments on birth certificates, delivered in an avalanche of words.
l ilystrange:Megalomaniac seems an apt descripton, as would be delusionary, but that would be a double negative, for one cannot exist wthout the other.
I am sad and concerned for those of the next generation which were entrusted into her care…
And yet there are those that still fail to see her for the megalomaniac Barbie doll that she is.
