Schizophrenia in the GOP…from the top down.

Hours after Michael Steele warned moderate Republicans that they would be targeted if they didn’t support conservative principles, the RNC Chairman called discussion of intra-party feuding “stupid” and insisted that the GOP would lose if “we play politics amongst our own.”
In a conference call with grassroots Republicans leaders to thank them for the work they did in winning two governor’s seats in the 2009 election, Steele laid out a blueprint for expanding on the early success.
The RNC chair stressed the need to avoid having Republicans target one another. “It is the first way to screw yourself,” he said.
…”we are mired in a very stupid discussion about conservatives versus moderates and conservatives versus Republicans,” he said. “When we play politics amongst our own, we lose.”
“[Y]ou do not want to put yourself in a position where you’re crossing that line on conservative principles, fiscal principles, because we’ll come after you,” Steele said.
And in the name of guiding and advising stealth Rebiblican candidates…
…calling on the party to ideologically purge itself of moderates. In an interview with ABC News, the RNC chairman warned those candidates “who live in moderate to slightly liberal districts” that they would have “to walk a little bit carefully” when it came time to vote.’
So what is the message?
It is that there is a recognizable fissure in the conservative culture and though there are tantrums as to who is a “rell” conservative, patriot, republican…the reality is that they are fractured and infighting. The strategy is that they have no strategy. Everyone is going rogue and the lack of cohesiveness is blatant. Additional commentary goes on to say…
When John Boehner, the Republican leader of the House, appeared at the Tea Party rally at the Capitol on Thursday afternoon, it was a dramatic signal: The wing-nuts have taken over the GOP.
Think I’m being harsh? The angry folks at the protest — which attracted several thousand conservatives — held up signs with messages of hate: “Get the Red Out of the White House,” “Waterboard Congress,” “Ken-ya Trust Obama?” One called the president a “Traitor to the U.S. Constitution.” Another sign showed pictures of dead bodies at the Dachau concentration camp and compared health care reform to the Holocaust. A different placard depicted Obama as Sambo. Yes, Sambo. Another read, “Obama takes his orders from the Rothchilds” — a reference to the anti-Semitic conspiracy theory holding that one evil Jewish family has manipulated events around the globe for decades.” ~ HuffPo Political Commentary
Can this get any more disturbing?
This is not just the Party of NO…it is evolving into the Party of Extremists and Impersonators. The Extremists are pathetically obvious in their displays of complete racial prejudice and their unapologetic ignorance.
The Party of No are opportunists who prostitute themselves to the Extremists without pride or humility (i.e. Boehner, Cantor et al) with the sole purpose of opposing anything and everything from the progressive side of the aisle. It doesn’t matter to them if what they are protesting is good for the American public or not – the game is to trash the opposition, aide their corporate sponsors and inflate their own sense of importance.
The Impersonators are those who hold a combination of the Teabagger Hatriot view of America as well as the Rebiblican candidates’ religious zealotry. Clearly RNC Chairman Steele is dealing with a conundrum that even he can’t keep straight. On the one hand he chastises them (ALL of them), and yet warns them to remain moderate in appearance or they will not win…but by god don’t even THINK about abandoning your conservative values! Phew!“The consequence of [not having that in place] is we are mired in a very stupid discussion about conservatives versus moderates and conservatives versus Republicans,” he said. “When we play politics amongst our own, we lose.”Hours earlier, Steele was sounding a noticeably different tune — all but calling on the party to ideologically purge itself of moderates. …It's like herding cats… LOL… and Steele thinks he is the Coolest Cat of them all… he may be, but given the low threshold, it really should not count.
So, where is Cantor in this herd: in front of the Cool One, or right behind him?. Can't decide yet!
The democratic party may forever be a fractious mess, but at least they do occasionally display a tendency of caring about their fellow citizens, and some are even capable of speaking in completely thought-out sentences and even paragraphs. Some even have that depracating wit which drives the rest of them over the edge. That alone will move me to vote for them.
Speaking "in tongues"… errr… talking points just does not convince me of anything but their ignorance.
This from the man that endorsed the Conservative party candidate over the GOP's in NY23??? Steele is a complete idjit. May he 'lead' the Repukes for years to come!!
The republicans invited the far right fundamentalists into the party and used them to win elections. Now the far right fundamentalist fringe of the party is set on purging the party of the very same members that invited them into it. Pass the popcorn. And, oh, I’ll have a soda with that. It looks like this will be a pretty good movie.
Herding cats my rear end, every cents Palin come unto the fringe, the whole lot of em' is likin' to herdin' turtles.! I can just see her rubbing her hands together in glee. After all folks, this is the stuff she likes best, it draws attention from her lack of competence for anything.
