GOP wack job speaketh againeth: (Which one you ask? I know, there is a plethora of them)…
Okay…I am a mom. And it wasn’t that long ago when my daughter was 13, the age Bachman refers to in this quick – but very long – floor discussion. First of all, I acknowledge that I am fortunate to have nurtured a relationship with my daughter that would have precluded her skipping off to Junior High in the morning; squeezing in a visit to a “Sex Clinic” between bells in the morning; then popping in for a quick abortion over lunch; to return home about 3:00pm showing no signs of her days’ events.
If I were that unconscious as a parent, and my daughter were that much of a sociopath in her emotions…ummm…I would assert that there are other VERY serious concerns that need to be addressed.
What is WRONG with this woman???
It’s this whole paranoid cult! they act like everyone out there is intent on indoctrinating their children! the public schools, the homosexuals, the counselors, Planned Parenthood, liberals – even the President for gods sakes!
The reality is these extreme evangelicals are the ONLY ones doing the indoctrinating. They fill them with fear, paranoia, even hate – all in the name of God. And let’s look at how well this is all working for them.
“Does religiosity, particularly Christianity, improve a society? The answer seems to be that it does not. In fact there is plenty of evidence to conclude it makes people worse off. The United States is by far the most religious of the prosperous nations and equally the one with the greatest levels of social problems.” - Study on Religion and Correlation to Moral High Ground
What they call indoctrinating – we call educating. But it is easy to see the confusion for them. We offer numerous opportunities for free thought and reason; while they tell you what you are going to believe damn it! Let’s look at these maps that show traditional Red State v Blue State voting districts, and then the US concentrations of evangelical populations…and just for fun the US map of highest teen pregnancy.

GOP States

So, these maps establish what we have known all along, and that is that the GOP is evangelical, or more aptly in today’s language, Political Dominionists.

Evangelical Deposits
Where the Bible Belt used to be… is mostly relegated to the southern Gulf States, with nomadic shifts in population and earnest evangelizing, the Bible Belt has grown with the evangelical waistline.
And the last picture I will post shows the numbers by percentage of the states with the highest teen pregnancy rates…and I am certain that you will see the same pattern that so many have picked up on repeatedly. Extremism doesn’t work!
So why are they so damn mad at us? Because they are profoundly dismal failures in their own backyards. It is easier to preach what they themselves cannot do.
Bachman actually represents a state where there is a lower population of evangelicals – and oddly enough a lower incidence in teen pregnancy rates, with no help from her I might add.
But by god if she has it her way…that is surely going to change! Why the heathens couldn’t possibly have the wherewithal to live morally without her insistence that ALL are guided by her cultist faith! What will happen?
Lower divorce rates? Teen pregnancies and STDs? Reductions in domestic violence and child abuse? You have to be a submissive warrior(ess) in the army of Dominonist ‘c’hristianity to guide behaviors through purity and righteousness!
Look at Palin’s hometown. Number one in the entire United States of America in incidences of Assault, Domestic Violence and Rape. It’s a despicable thing to be number one in, especially for such a devout evangelical community.
This was my rant for the day after watching only 57 seconds of Bachman’s latest regurgitation of absolute garbage fed to her by her faith, her patriarchs and her direct line to God (that she professes to have regular access to).
It is hard to be a persecuted ‘c’hristian when the reasons for persecution are self-made.

Another good article Leah, and I feel your frustration! Every time that woman opens her mouth, it is to tell lies and preach inanities. One would think that someone in the House would try to squelch her. Don't they realize what an embarassment she is to their party? I can't believe that all of the senior representatives are so involved in her religious movement, that they go along with her.
I've written to my own rep. (Jim Bunning) several times, in the hopes that he might do something, but I don't even get a response back. Bachmann's website restricts messages from anyone not in her district, as do many others in Congress. Anyone should be able to voice their opinions to all elected people.
It seems like she's not only gone 'round the bend of insanity, but has stepped over the line with the lies and it is way past time for her to be admonished, rebuked, censored – whatever term or step they can take to punish someone.
I agree with you GreatGranny. I too have tried to get on Bachmann's website to voice my displeasure with her and was frustrated that I could not. I ended up calling her office. Now I get on her Facebook page and do it. It pained me to have to click the "be a supporter" box to be able to post but it is worth it to give her a piece of my mind. Alot of people go there and tell her about herself (I think she has more negative than positive posts).
I for one am writing Boehner and telling him she needs to be stopped. As the Leader of the House he can't let her insanity continue. She is dangerous.
UNfortuantely, Boehner is just as wacked in his own sleezy, "alched-out" indifferent way. I am sure that part of him excuses her because after all, "she's just a hysterical broad". They are all dangerous when they are this far removed from the interests of the people they serve. Ivory Tower syndrome…
According to the Barna Research Group, atheists and agnostics have the LOWEST divorce rate and Evangelical Christians have the highest. Say what, Michelle?
After several years of abstinence only sex-ed, Texas has the third highest teen pregnancy rate, and a climbing STD rate. At this rate Palin-Bachmann style of 'family values' will kill our kids before we have a chance to strap an AK-47 on their backs and send them off to war.
How can they not see this fact? I know, I know, denial is profound. Absitnence does not work as a stand-alone program. I have nothing against encouraging that behavior in kids, by any means…but to think that we can tell kids not to have sex and that alone will stop promiscuity is delusional.
The Canada/Jesusland map is one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. Thanks for that!
Hoping you'll also get a kick out the newest Lester & Charlie satire. It's not entirely off-topic, showing us where the GOP gets their advice — and what happens when people take Jesus too seriously.

Jesus was a zinfindel! I LOVE it! You guys are very clever…and I appreciate the satire and the much needed laugh. I recommend these videos to all readers of this site.
I wish I could give credit to the creator of the map but I can't find them. It is spot on though isn't it…sadly.
Thanks, LB!
Lester & Charlie just finished shooting their "American Anger" episode. And we have a call out to anyone who wants to send a 5 or 10 second video to us that summarizes what really pisses them off – so that we can include it in the series. (No tea baggers or people who want to be heard but don't have anything to say, thank you very much… )
Just planting the seed in case you or your readers have something to contribute!
There are three that I know of that have said they will run for president if God wants them to, Bachman, Huckabee, and Palin. What if God tells all three they are suppose to be president, will they fight each other? Funny how all of them Dobson, Palin, and other preachers were praying last year that God places the right person in the White House, but were so pissed off BO was elected. It seems to me they are always praying for there will to be done, not Gods.
It is quite a conundrum isn't it? Their narcissistic faith doesn't answer that for them, other than to tell them that THEY (which ever "they" is justifying this) are the only "real chosen one" and the others are wrongly usurping their rightful position. Isn't envy one of the sins? Indeed it is.
I don't know why the rape rate in Alaska is such a conundrum for you…women won't voluntarily go to bed with evangelical lunatics, so if these guys are going to get any sex at all, they have to take it by force.
As an old engineering professor said during the Clinton years, Democrats get into more moral scrapes than Repuglicans because women don't find Repuglicans appealing.
Just my .05. I could be wrong…
I would pose that the Rs are holding their own pretty well on the moral scrapes! Hey, if you ask Arthur Coltrane (Coulter) Rs have MORE sex…she just forgot to say with who.
