Obama’s Speech? TOO Inspirational! Danger? Real Education versus “Edumucation”!

OMG!!! SOCIALIST! (Can’t you just hear Glenn Beck screaming that like a little girl in your head…lol) How could we possibly allow our children to be subjected to this type of socialist/fascist/communist/Marxist indoctrination???

Oh…definition of “Edumacate”, “to read and absorb ludicrous conspiracy theories”.

That sums up those who would use all those terms above in a run-on sentence, while simultaneously referring to our President as the anti-christ, and are terrified of his plot to taint their children with evil…alrighty-then!

Here are some excerpts of the President’s prepared speech for tomorrow

Obama School Kids…”But at the end of the day, the circumstances of your life – what you look like, where you come from, how much money you have, what you’ve got going on at home – that’s no excuse for neglecting your homework or having a bad attitude. That’s no excuse for talking back to your teacher, or cutting class, or dropping out of school. That’s no excuse for not trying.

…Every single one of you has something you’re good at. Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That’s the opportunity an education can provide.

…That’s why today, I’m calling on each of you to set your own goals for your education – and to do everything you can to meet them. Your goal can be something as simple as doing all your homework, paying attention in class, or spending time each day reading a book. Maybe you’ll decide to get involved in an extracurricular activity, or volunteer in your community. Maybe you’ll decide to stand up for kids who are being teased or bullied because of who they are or how they look, because you believe, like I do, that all kids deserve a safe environment to study and learn. Maybe you’ll decide to take better care of yourself so you can be more ready to learn. And along those lines, I hope you’ll all wash your hands a lot, and stay home from school when you don’t feel well, so we can keep people from getting the flu this fall and winter.

…No one’s born being good at things, you become good at things through hard work. You’re not a varsity athlete the first time you play a new sport. You don’t hit every note the first time you sing a song. You’ve got to practice. It’s the same with your schoolwork. You might have to do a math problem a few times before you get it right, or read something a few times before you understand it, or do a few drafts of a paper before it’s good enough to hand in.

…Your families, your teachers, and I are doing everything we can to make sure you have the education you need to answer these questions. I’m working hard to fix up your classrooms and get you the books, equipment and computers you need to learn. But you’ve got to do your part too. So I expect you to get serious this year. I expect you to put your best effort into everything you do. I expect great things from each of you. So don’t let us down – don’t let your family or your country or yourself down. Make us all proud. I know you can do it.

What audacity! To instill pride in children, demand that they respect themselves and their families and teachers, for God’s sakes! Expect goals for themselves, and encouraging them to aim high. Sharing success stories…of all things…the unmigated nerve! Examples of others who have achieved academic achievements even when coming from diverse backgrounds. Where WILL this madness end?!

No wonder the “anything-Obama-does-is-evil-and-he-MUST-fail” crowd are so upset!  IF their children are subjected to this…those kids may actually LEARN! And if they become educated instead of “edumacated“, they might actually become proactive in making informed decisions about who they vote for – and, and – learn the skills necessary to actually engage in intellectual discussion without packin’ heat and bellowing spoon-fed propaganda in crowded rooms where their film footage at family reunions will be held up as how NOT to behave in a civilized society.

Okay! I get it now…they have a responsibility to uphold our dummy-downed population size or the GOP may become as extinct as dinosaurs did 4,000 years ago!

Speaking of dinosaurs…I can’ t leave this without attaching a few SHORT video clips that need no commentary. Watch them. You will understand what I mean…

I would have taken MYSELF out of school if I had to listen to that!

And then we have this…President “Childrens do learn”…no wonder I couldn’t find him actually speaking to students…thank God!

Sitting in a classroom holding a book upside down was more George’s speed.

The guy they were proud to call their leader. The man WITHOUT an agenda. The guy whose message never, ever contained misleading and rhetorical information that led us into a trillion dollar armed and forced occupation of another country.

Yeah…that guy. He was EDUMACATED just like them!

I took my two students out of a AK village school Tuesday. They started school two weeks ago and since the day begins at 8:30 am they would have missed speech. I had them at home so they would see it live and also listen to some pundits. Also so the main message would not be missed for all the extreme RNC propaganda against anything Obama. Later we will review the text, invite Mr. Obama and family to Alaska since he has never been here and do a few lesson plans of our own as well as Dept. of Ed. suggestions. Much ado about nothing. good new site.

  3. Leah I am familiar with that attitude of education being their enemy. My parents came from the deep south (Not all southerners are like this, just like not all Alaskans are) and they would actually verbalize that a person with a PHd did not know any more than they did about their specialty. I was a child and would just think they were full of crap. They really hated psychiatrists and psychologists and would often say the only reason they went into their fields is because they are all crazy. After I became a nurse my dad would get very upset if I even asked him how something made him feel and he would yell, "Stop trying to psychoanalyze me." It is a tremendous generalized fear that fuels this thinking.

Leah, I guess I was tired the first time I posted this I don't know where it went.

I was a christian when I came to Alaska. My eyes were opened shortly after getting here and have changed my belief system. I use to go to The Church for All Nations in Tacoma WA which is pentecostal, but very progressive. I always thought they would not be a part of the theocratic, third wave dominionist movement. I found this on their introduction page:

This church exists to create healthy, active reproducing members of God’s Kingdom in a Bible-based and culturally relevant way.

Reproducing Members? This would mean they are a part of it. I am glad I escaped. I never agreed with the politics of the rest of the members of the church. Then I also went to that church in Alamagordo NM which had the Harry Potter book burning. I was gone before that happened. When I saw that on the news I was glad I left before I drank any of the kool aid.

You are blessed with the ability to reason…or you would have guzzled the kool aid. The desire to be led and told what to think supercedes the Sheeples need for independence. They shout freedom but move en masse like fish swimming together in a school. And education IS their enemy.

  5. GenieO says:

I must say, though, that the video of Bush was hysterical. I laughed so hard, I watched it again.

    • Leah Burton says:

See how you are! :) Only TWICE? I watched it several times…think I should loop it. Watch out people, I just learned how to edit videos! THAT'S scary! LOL

  6. Postergirl says:

I agee with what you wrote. I for one will not allow my child to listen to such nonsense such as 'stay in school', 'aim high', 'achieve your dreams', 'don't talk back to your teachers', 'read a book'. I mean, it's OUTRAGEOUS! Who does Obama think he is, anyway…. the President?

Loved your Theopalinism site, love this site.

    • Leah Burton says:

Apparently he feels imperious to the authority of God. Sheesh! The nerve! Inciting children to have a sense of self, self-confidence, self-image, and self-esteem! Phew! That is so much socialist propaganda..HOW can we take it all?!

Good for you – keep your child FAR away from that rhetoric!

  7. julianne says:

The most important question we should all be asking, following the example of Yale-educated GW Bush: "Is our children learning?"

  8. Vagabonde says:

Those parents against President Obama’s speech are not against the speech itself, they are against it because it is given by President Obama, that’s all. I just heard that 30% of US kids drop out of high school and the number is 50% in New York – US is rated 31 out of the western nations in math for kids and it keeps going down. This is terrible for the future of this country and parents should applaud anyone who is trying to get the kids to stay and learn in school. I wish the clips you showed could be on all the TV stations, but even if it they were there are always those who would not understand what they say – because they don’t want to.

    • Leah Burton says:

Exactly…and those goes for BOTH sides of the political aisle. People don't like to think for themselves, they prefer to be fed, and that is not exclusive to the "new" GOP.

    • GenieO says:

Someone commented on another blog with something that gives me great hope. Kids pulled out of the viewing will be all the more curious what the fuss is about. They will be on the internet faster than lightning to see the video on youtube. And after seeing the speech that was prepared just for them, some of them might start thinking their parents are a little cuckoo.

  9. GenieO says:

Jeez, Leah! Did you have to screw up my day with those videos of Reagan? And did I have to be stupid enough to watch them?

    • Leah Burton says:

Sorry…well not really. You know what they say…misery loves company and I just feel compelled to share! Thank you for playing..

      • GenieO says:

You're welcome. I got a star in kindergarten for 'plays well with others.'

        • Leah Burton says:

Apparently he feels imperious to the authority of God. Sheesh! The nerve! Inciting children to have a sense of self, self-confidence, self-image, and self-esteem! Phew! That is so much socialist propagand..HOW can we take it all?!

        • Leah Burton says:

LOL! That is so funny! Cuz I use the excuse that I never attended kindergarten as why I never learned to share…but I DO make exceptions! Where we lived in Alaska in 1961…there wasn't a kindergarten.

Instead, my mom would find me routinely at "Jessie's Bar" by the pool tables back then. Guess I need to share pics…:) And that was when Dad was playing B-ball with Todd's (Palin's) Dad. SMALL friggin' world ain't it?

    • Leah Burton says:

Sorry…NOT! I love share the dysfunction…but feel somewhat apologetic in doing so. :)
